Four days, no admission charge. It bills itself as the largest free jazz festival in the world, and this is its 47th year.

The whole festival sits in Hart Plaza this year. Three stages have been consolidated there — the Carhartt Amphitheater, the Pyramid and the Absopure Waterfront — a change from previous years, when it spread further up Woodward. Additional sets run at the Detroit Jazz Hall inside the Gretchen C. Valade Jazz Center at Wayne State.
